Midlife: The Crisis Musical AUDITIONS

Mid-life The Crisis Musical

AUDITION NOTICE

This Sunday 23rd February, we are holding auditions for Midlife: The Crisis Musical.

It is a series of vignettes detailing the trials and tribulations of aging. The cast is comprised of 3 men and 3 women, who all play a variety of roles.

From the Origin Theatrical description:

With a balanced look at the 'joys' of growing older, through a cast of three men and three women, MID-LIFE! strikes a chord with anyone regardless of age.

A series of scenes and sketches poke fun at the frustrations of mammograms, love handles, weekend warriors and proctology exams. The cleverly crafted songs celebrate forgetfulness, reading glasses and menopause, but also touch on the sentimental wisdom that the later years afford us.

MID-LIFE! is a hilarious romp with an honest humor about the trials and tribulations of the unavoidable aging process. Welcome to MID-LIFE!

A message from our director, Ross Benbow:

Join the cast of this fun filled musical! A great chance to play multiple roles as every scene has a different set of characters. If you are still young take this chance to experience what mid-life will be like, if you are old relive your memories (if you still have them) and if you're in mid-life - come make us all laugh.

Stage ages late 30’s to 70’s but cast actual ages 20’s to 90’s. It's amazing what make-up can do!

And a message from the musical director, Katie Scott:

The soundtrack both inspires confidence and raises eyebrows, so we will work to modernise what we can legally change. It has some gems, such as the sweet love song "When He Laughs", the sassy cell-block-tango-style "He Got What He Deserves", and the sentimental "The Long Goodbye".

I expect it will be a touching show, so if you're on the fence about auditioning please have a listen.

You will need to come prepared to sing a short excerpt from a song of your choice. It's best if you bring your own backing track, but we will have a bluetooth speaker available. You will also be asked to read part of the script.

To book an audition time between 1pm and 5pm please email info@nmt.org.nz. We may be able to see you on another day if necessary, please contact us to arrange this.
